Dedicated towards reaching the skies

Send2Space strives to promote STEM by providing high school and elementary school students with the unique opportunities that come with building a high-altitude balloon.

Send2Space is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is engaging and educating underprivileged students through High Altitude Ballooning STEM fundamentals, outreach workshops, and other Send2Space-affiliated resources.

June 2020, Send2Space successfully launches its first high altitude balloon.

Our High Altitude Balloon from the Atmosphere Project based in Camas, Washington was launched from Crater Lake, Oregon! In the slideshow on the left, there are a few photos captured from our onboard camera which recorded the entire flight. The balloon and its payload flew to near 90,000 feet and experienced temperatures of -30 degrees Fahrenheit.

A video montage/timelapse is currently being developed. Watch the full raw footage here.

August 2020, Send2Space successfully launches its second high altitude balloon.

The San Antonio Chapter of Send2Space launches their HAB, which their high school team engineered and built from scratch with a focus on cost-optimization! They used an innovative styrofoam cooler design and custom-designed electronics.

In the slideshow on the right, there are a few photos captured from their onboard camera which recorded the flight. The balloon and its payload flew to 60,000 feet but was only able to photograph up to 30,000 feet.
